Jo Teichmann

I am the Co-Founder of Mune Biotech, where we read the information stored in human blood to understand chronic disease. Our mission is to build the dataset needed to train the bio AI models of the future, models that can diagnose and, one day, cure chronic disease.

I believe most of the knowledge we need to solve today’s problems already exists. Science publishes millions of papers a year, but most of them are never put to use. I built Trove, an AI tool that finds research worth turning into real products. At Mune I take this idea one step further: the answers to many of medicine’s questions are not only in papers, they are inside people. Your immune system has already found the causes of disease. Our work is to read that information out of the blood.

ChatGPT and Claude only became possible because they had the internet to learn from. There is no internet for human biology yet. At Mune we are building it: thousands of proteins, measured in the blood of patients across many diseases, with the ambition to create one of the largest datasets of its kind.

Before Mune, I wrote my master’s thesis on computational immunology as a visiting researcher in the Snyder Lab at Stanford School of Medicine. Earlier, I helped build Lima Labs in Kenya, developed pharmacogenomic tests, and was CTO of a large compounding pharmacy by Aponeo, the largest online pharmacy based in Germany. I studied Digital Health at the Hasso Plattner Institute and Information Science & Economics at Humboldt University of Berlin.
